    Movie premiere

The Profit, a motion picture produced and filmed in the Tampa Bay area by critics of Scientology, will open at 7:15 tonight at the Clearwater Cinema Cafe at U.S. 19 and Sunset Point Road. The film follows the life of a diabolical con man, L. Conrad Powers, who promises his followers spiritual salvation but is really out to steal their souls. Motivated by the threat of exposure by government agencies, he must convert his cult into a church to maintain power and secrecy. Show times are 7:15 and 9:45 p.m. and midnight. For information, call (727) 799-3531.

    A collector's dream

Door prizes will be handed out, and free stamps will be offered to all children and junior collectors who attend. Also, local stamp clubs will answer questions. Expo hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. For information, call (727) 848-7697.
