© St. Petersburg Times, Another player sues ex-USF basketball coachTAMPA -- Another lawsuit claiming racial discrimination has been filed against former women's basketball coach Jerry Ann Winters and her bosses at the University of South Florida. Deanna Graves of Orlando, who played under Winters for the 1996-97 school year, became the ninth plaintiff with the filing of her complaint Thursday in U.S. District Court. Lawyer Jonathan Alpert, who represents the eight other plaintiffs, alleged in the complaint that Winters subjected Graves and other African-American players to racist comments and treated them more harshly because they were black. The treatment caused Graves to leave USF before graduating and to default on student loans, Alpert contends in the complaint. The complaint also names USF President Judy Genshaft, former USF athletic director Paul Griffin and the University of South Florida Foundation. Alpert calls for $10-million in punitive damages.
