Two shows open in Sarasota
© St. Petersburg Times, published August 25, 2000 SELBY GALLERY -- Selby Gallery at the Ringling School of Art and Design opens its season today with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. for two shows: "selfportrait.map: digital images by locurto-outcault," digital images mapping the human body; and "Harvey Stein's Coney Island," chronicling the artist's 30-year fascination with the amusement park. Other events: director Kevin Dean's tour of both shows at 11:30 a.m. Monday and a lecture by Harvey Stein at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 in the lecture hall adjacent to Selby. Both shows continue through Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday (to 7 p.m. Tuesday). Free. Admission to the museum, $13.95 for adults, also includes a cassette-guided tour of the permanent Kennedy Collection and "Presidents and First Ladies on Time" from the National Portrait Gallery, through Oct. 22. Gulf Coast Museum of Art seeks docentsThe Gulf Coast Museum of Art needs docents, volunteers who will provide guided tours of its changing exhibitions.
