On the Move© St. Petersburg Times, published August 25, 2000 Even before Hollywood raises the curtain on the first of its big fall movies, the St. Petersburg Times is premiering exciting changes in how we cover entertainment, the arts and the many other ways Tampa Bay plays. Starting on Aug. 31, Weekend moves to Thursday. We're making this change in response to the many readers who have told us that they want more time to plan their free time days off. Weekend also is expanding to include more information about night life, videos, shopping, day trips and other family activities for the coming weekend and beyond. Plus, once a month we'll feature a pull-out calendar highlighting big events for the upcoming month. The next day, Sept. 1, we unveil a colorful, full page calendar in Friday Floridian with the best bets in live entertainment, television and recreation for the weekend. Finally, Sept. 3 marks the premiere of our new Sunday Arts section. This is the place to go for news and views from Times critics and other writers about the latest trends in music, theater, film, television and art. So remember: Starting next week, your Weekend begins on Thursday.
