The week in review
By Times staff writer
© St. Petersburg Times, MISSING WOMAN: Authorities spent last week looking for Linda Marie Howes, a 19-year-old Inverness woman who has been missing since early Aug. 18. She left behind her keys, purse and wallet when she vanished. BRIDE JAILED: Kathy Naylor, 28, of Homosassa spent her wedding night in jail on a charge of punching one of her wedding guests. Mrs. Naylor said the reported victim actually started the fight. EDC PLAN: The Economic Development Council put the finishing touches on a new contract that calls for the group to create 75 jobs next year, generate at least 100 "marketing leads" and provide quarterly progress reports to the County Commission. ROAD PROBLEMS: A new county paving program has hit a legal roadblock that could stall plans to pave 22 private dirt roads in the coming year. Citrus County may violate state law if it moves forward with a paving program that uses public dollars up front to pay for private road improvements, according to an Aug. 17 opinion that the county solicited from the Holland and Knight law firm. KEY CENTER WON'T AFFILIATE: The Key Training Center, after discussing the prospect for a year, announced last week it won't affiliate with Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services Inc., a non-profit Wisconsin company that, like the Key, helps mentally and physically disabled clients. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
