ST. PETERSBURG -- Vero Beach beat St. Petersburg 2-0 in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. Tim Harrell (7-7) shut out the Devil Rays and allowed just two hits. Although trailing, Devil Ray starter Nathan Ruhl (3-6) took a no-hitter into the final inning before yielding three hits.
Tony Pigott went 2-for-3 and scored twice as the Devil Rays won the second game 3-1. Cecilio Garibaldi (5-7) held the Dodgers to one run on four hits to earn the win.
The Devil Rays play their final home game of the season at 7 tonight against Vero Beach.
KISSIMMEE 4, TAMPA 3: Aaron Miles went 2-for-4 with a double to lead host Kissimmee. John Rodriguez hit a two-run homer for the Yankees.
JUPITER 12, CLEARWATER 7 (10): Visiting Jupiter scored five runs in the 10th. Matt Cepicky went 4-for-6 with five RBI and Val Pascucci went 3-for-5 with two RBI to pace a 23-hit Hammerhead attack. Brad Waldron (3-5) pitched four innings of scoreless relief and struck out four to earn the win. Cary Hiles (8-3) gave up six runs in 11/3 to take the loss.
DUNEDIN 10, PORT CHARLOTTE 5: Tony Peters, Tyler Thompson, Jersen Perez and Joe Dusan homered to lead host Dunedin. Josh Phelps had three RBI and Perez had three hits. Reliever Orlando Woodards (8-1) held the Rangers to one run over four innings to earn the win.
