TAMPA -- A 23-year-old Tampa man was killed Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle and veered off Interstate 275, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Jose Dias De La Rosa of 1512 140th Ave. was southbound on the highway with two passengers at 4:20 p.m.
Officials said he lost control of his 1994 Mercury about a half-mile north of Hillsborough Avenue. The car spun clockwise toward the right shoulder, jumped the curb and rolled down the embankment.
Domingo Perez, 23, and Agustin Jimenez Gomez, 20, were injured in the crash.
Florida Highway Patrol said Perez was taken to Tampa General Hospital, but he refused treatment, according to hospital official.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Gomez was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital. He was treated and released.
Coast Guard crews were searching for a 45-year-old diver who disappeared Sunday afternoon in the Gulf of Mexico about 7 miles off Anclote Key, which is on the Pinellas-Pasco border.
The diver's family, who accompanied him on the scuba diving trip, reported him missing about 1:30 p.m. Rescuers still were searching for him late Sunday.
Coast Guard officials wouldn't release further information about the diver.
