The Citrus County Department of Public Safety, Fire Prevention Section is looking for volunteers to teach children to be fire safe through the use of the Fire Safety House. Even when not participating in the program, many volunteers are recognized by the children. Their thanks and the satisfaction of providing information that may prevent injury or save a life is payment in itself.

Since April 1997, the Fire Safety House, a mobile trailer at the Fire Prevention Office, has been presented to 8,574 participants, 85 percent of them children, in 685 workshops at 113 functions. Most programs are presented to the elementary schools.

Fire Prevention will provide the necessary training to present the fire safety programs and to operate the Fire Safety House. Anyone who has the time and desire to assist in the Fire Safety House program, call Kenneth Clamer at the Fire Prevention Office, 726-4670.
