Pasco Youth Ensemble plans party to boost membershipBy Times staff writer
© St. Petersburg Times, The Pasco Youth Ensemble, now in its second year, is hosting a Get Acquainted Party for eighth-graders and high school band students at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Pasco Arts Council, 5744 Moog Road, Holiday. The ensemble is made up of talented young musicians from area schools who are especially excited about music and want to earn scholarship money by mentoring younger students and performing throughout the tri-county area. Last year the group raised more than $4,000, which was used for buying instruments, music lessons, and paying for tuition to the Florida State University Summer Music Camp Program. Program coordinator Trish Demasky hopes the ensemble will eventually grow into a full-fledged youth orchestra. Students who are interested in joining the ensemble, parents who would like to have their beginning band students tutored for a cost of $5 for each lesson, or individuals and businesses who would like to contribute to the scholarship fund should call Demasky at (727) 845-7322. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
