Focus on volunteers

YOUthLEAD, a program run by Family Resources Inc. of St. Petersburg to help students become successful leaders, is looking for 10 adult mentors. The young people, ages 15-17, will need at least two mentors each for guidance, support and advice. Mentor training is provided. For information, call 550-4013.
The St. Petersburg office of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 9455 Koger Blvd., Suite 100, needs help with this weekend's Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon. The national telethon will air locally on WFTS-Ch. 28. Volunteer duties include answering telephones and distributing posters.
The association also needs volunteers to help year-round. Positions include visiting people who are homebound as well as helping with fund-raisers. For information, call the St. Petersburg Muscular Dystrophy office at 577-4509.
The Florida Botanical Garden at the Pinellas County Cooperative Extension Service, 12175 125th St. N, Largo, needs volunteers to help with clerical duties. For information, call Jean Field at 582-2016.
