Good morning, Taste readers!

Today you're finding your Taste section on its new day, complete with all your favorite features and expanded with some smart new offerings.

Under the direction of food editor Janet K. Keeler, we're serving up more stories about the way people cook and eat and enjoy food, the latest and best in food trends near and far, and useful nutrition and consumer information.

Look for Dish on Page 3, a compilation of fun food facts (do you know which fish are considered fat and which are lean? Check out Dish.)

Look for Uncorked, a monthly wine column by food and wine critic Chris Sherman that will help you navigate the wine cellar. Today's starts on this page and extols the virtues of the saucy syrah.

Look for listings of TV cooking shows, today on Page 2D. (How many times can you watch Emeril Lagasse this week?)

Of course, Taste will continue to bring you recipes, Food File and You Asked for It, our recipe swap column, which turns 25 next year.

Along with these exciting changes in Taste comes another significant move: Starting Thursday, an expanded Weekend entertainment section will publish a day earlier to give you a jump on planning your weekend fun.

We want to know what you think about the new Taste. Send your comments to food editor Janet K. Keeler at the Times, P.O. Box 1121, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 or e-mail floridian@sptimes.com. Her phone number is (727) 893-8586.
