Man in his 60s sought in armed robberyBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published August 31, 2000 PORT RICHEY -- A man armed with a revolver and holding a newspaper to conceal his face robbed AABCO Mortgage Loans at 10037 U.S. 19 on Wednesday afternoon. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating the robbery, which happened at 3:32 p.m. The robber demanded money and fled through the back door. The two employees inside were not injured. The robber was white, in his 60s, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a blue and white flannel shirt. The robber got away despite attempts to find him with a Sheriff's Office helicopter. Gulf High student accused of pushing school deputyNEW PORT RICHEY -- An 18-year-old Gulf High School student was arrested and charged with battery on a law enforcement officer after, authorities say, he pushed a Pasco County school resource officer on Tuesday. Sheriff's Deputy Jeff Derner caught Joshua Walter Littlejohn of 4960 Marlin Drive smoking in the boys bathroom of Gulf High School at 10:50 a.m., said a report. Derner asked Littlejohn to step into his office, and the teen swore at the officer, said Derner's report. Derner started to physically escort Littlejohn, who then pushed Derner away. Littlejohn was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence. He was booked into the county jail in Land O'Lakes and was released Tuesday on a $10,000 bail. Boy gets gash from attack by family's dogMOON LAKE -- A 9-year-old boy is recovering from a dog bite on Tuesday afternoon. Michael Carrick of Cardy Street was playing football with a group of children in the neighborhood at about 4:30 p.m. when Carrick tackled Ricky Russell, age 10, according to family members. Ricky's pit bull-mix dog, Ben, saw the two boys on the ground and attacked Michael, according to witnesses. "He protects the kids," explained Dawn Russell, Ricky's mom. Michael was taken to Bayonet Point Regional Hospital in Hudson, and a nurse there said the boy wouldn't be immediately treated by a doctor, deputies said. So Michael was taken by ambulance to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, where he was treated for a 6-inch laceration to his head, scrapes on his back and puncture wounds to his cheek. "He's going to be scarred forever," said Michael's mom, Jennifer Smith. County Animal Control officials impounded the dog. Man charged with having sex with a 15-year-oldLAND O'LAKES -- A 28-year-old Hudson man was arrested Tuesday and charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported. Anthony Wayne Wood, of 13918 Raie Ave., turned himself in at the county jail in Land O'Lakes Tuesday on one felony charge of lewd and lascivious activity with a minor. He was released after posting $10,000 bail.
