Woman, 76, falls, breaks arm in purse snatchingBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published August 31, 2000 DADE CITY -- A 76-year-old woman fell and broke her arm Tuesday night after two men grabbed her purse as she left a Dade City restaurant, the Police Department reported. The incident occurred about 9:40 p.m. as the woman and her 80-year-old husband left Adrian's Grill on the first floor of the Centennial Building at 37837 Meridian Ave. As the couple walked out the door, two unidentified men snatched the woman's purse and ran away, police said. The woman fell and broke her arm. "I never saw them," said the woman, whose name the Times is withholding because the suspects have not been caught. "It was like they were lying in wait for people to come out." Police searched the area for the suspects but did not find them. The woman, who also suffered bruises from the fall, was treated at a local hospital and released. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
