Ex-dean accused of failing to register as sex offender

TALLAHASSEE -- A former Florida A&M University dean was arrested Friday and charged with failing to register as a sexual offender when he came to Florida.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Kiah Edwards III, 52, was arrested in Houston, Texas, where he had returned after resigning earlier this week. He quit just three weeks after beginning work as an associate dean at FAMU after faculty there linked Edwards to a 1996 Texas rape conviction involving a 13-year-old girl. Sex offenders must register with the local Sheriff's Office or with the FDLE when they move to Florida.

    High-profile attorney, ex-colleague settle suits

STUART -- Willie Gary, an attorney known for winning multimillion-dollar lawsuits, has settled litigation with a former associate who claimed he had been cheated out of $1.4-million in legal fees, including interest.

Gary and Steven Glucksman shook hands Thursday afternoon and called each other friends as the case came to an abrupt end. They refused to disclose details.

Glucksman had sued Gary and his law partners soon after he left their firm in 1994. Gary countersued, claiming he overpaid Glucksman more than $260,000.

20-man brawl interrupts kids' baseball game

MIAMI -- Two coaches are suspended, and police are considering arrests after about 20 men charged the field and brawled during a baseball game for 4- and 5-year-olds.

No one was seriously injured, and no children participated.

The brawl began Tuesday when a coach disputed an umpire's call during a Miami Friends Baseball Association T-ball game between the Yankees and Tigers. A home video shows men charging the field, throwing wild punches and shoving and tackling each other. The umpire appears to back out of the pile unscathed.
