New survey to be sent on beach street closings

ST. PETE BEACH -- City commissioners were looking for help in deciding whether to close side streets along Blind Pass Road when they agreed to send a survey to residents north of 75th Avenue.

Some of the surveys were sent inadvertently to Treasure Island residents, so the city is mailing a second version that should begin appearing in mailboxes today.

This survey is similar to the first, but it is blue. Any white cards returned to City Hall will not count toward the results. Anyone who already filled out a white survey card also must fill out a blue one and return it to City Hall.

Commissioners plan to vote Sept. 19 on whether to close more than a dozen residential streets along Blind Pass Road. If the city opts to close the roads, the state Department of Transportation will allow a stoplight to be installed at 84th Avenue and Blind Pass Road.

The deadline for the second survey card is Sept. 11. For information, call the city manager's office at 363-9232.
