The E-bay item of the week offers an indication that maybe it's time to give the cockroaches a turn running the planet.

Bronson Arroyo, a former Hernan do High School star and a relief pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, is worth about $8.50 on the E-bay auction site, according to bidding for one of his rookie cards.

The likeness of infamous 12-then-14-year-old Danny Almonte is doing a lot better. A Little League World Series ticket bearing the Bronx Baby Bomber's signature was going for $125 as of Sunday. There were 16 bidders.

Nunleys among leaders

The Brooksville-based training tandem of Randy and Tracy Nunley are 10th on the wins list at the Delaware Park meet.

The couple has 18 victories, 20 seconds and 21 thirds in 141 starts for earnings of $469,866. They're also in good company with some of the more successful trainers in the Northeast, including Timothy F. Richey, who had a Preakness starter, Scott Lake, and Dale Capuano.

Petrina Above, a 6-year-old mare owned by Brooksville's Al Luccarelli, finished last among seven in the $50,000 Dirt Cassidy Handicap for fillies and mares at Calder Race Course.

Carrying the light weight of 111 pounds, Petrina Above finished seven lengths behind Flying Birdie in the six-furlong race under Abel Castellano Jr.

Petrina Above, named Luccarelli's late sister, had missed considerable training time after breaking a bone in her ankle.

Safety squeezed

Barring a strong and reasonable explanation, backup free safety Jimmy Grimsley's UCF career appears to be over.

Grimsley, a redshirt junior from Crystal River, missed the team plane for Clemson (S.C.) on Friday, leaving UCF's coaches to guess his whereabouts. Defensive coordinator Gene Chizik isn't inclined to let Grimsley, a fourth-year walk-on, back on the team.

"We've moved on," Chizik said.

New backup "Peter Sands came in and played great," the coach said. "I used him 12, 14, 15 plays on defense and special teams, and we'll go from here."
