Golden Knights see angry Orange

ORLANDO -- Central Florida turned its focus to Saturday's game at Syracuse as both teams seek their first victory.

"(The Orangemen) are going to be very angry," said coach Mike Kruczek, whose Golden Knights lost their opener 21-13 Saturday at Clemson.

"I don't think they believed they would be 0-2 at this point and they are coming home upset."

It will be the first game for UCF in a dome since 1988.

"It's difficult to play inside," Kruczek said. "You can't really prepare them for the noise. I've heard horror stories about the place, in terms of not being able to communicate well."

INJURIES: Senior linebacker Tito Rodriguez (left shoulder) practiced Monday with limited activity and is questionable for Saturday's game. He will have an MRI exam today to determine the extent of the injury. Receiver Jimmy Fryzel (hip pointer) also saw limited activity but is probable.

Injury could open a spot for Winslow

CORAL GABLES -- Coach Larry Coker said an MRI exam on Miami receiver Daryl Jones' sprained knee showed no serious problem, and Jones could return for the Sept. 15 game against 15th-ranked Washington.

Jones' injury could give freshman receiver Kellen Winslow additional playing time in UM's home opener Saturday against Rutgers.

HONORED: Todd Sievers was named Big East special teams player of the week after kicking a career-high four field goals Saturday in a 33-7 victory at Penn State.

TOP-SPOT TRIVIA: The Hurricanes, who took over as No. 1 in the Associated Press poll, have played 26 games as AP's top-ranked team, compiling a 21-5 record. Before its 1993 loss to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl for the national championship, UM had won 11 straight when it held the top spot.
