Graduations

Jacinda O. Jackson-Martin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald E. Jackson Sr. of Decatur, Ga., formerly of Clearwater, graduated cum laude from Florida A&M University with a master's degree in business administration. She is a 1995 graduate of Clearwater High School. She participated in internships at Pfizer, Amoco (now BPAmoco) and Eli Lilly & Co, where she works in marketing.

Jill Cameron, the daughter of Lyle and Abby Cameron of Palm Harbor, graduated from the University of Houston with a doctorate in cellular and molecular biology. She is a 1991 graduate of Northeast High School and a 1995 graduate of the University of South Florida. She has accepted a research position at Harvard Medical School.

Blake Whitney, the son of Ginny Thompson of St. Petersburg and John G. Thompson of Tarpon Springs, graduated with honors from Florida State University. He received his bachelor's degree in political science and is working on his master's degree in philosophy. He plans to pursue a doctorate as well as a juris doctor degree.

Honors and awards

Yelena Yatskar of Tarpon Springs and Maria B. Catsikopoulos of Palm Harbor have been awarded Progress Energy Merit Awards. The awards, valued at $1,500 per year for four years of undergraduate study, recognize academic accomplishments, school and community participation, leadership abilities and exceptional communications skills.

Yatskar is the daughter of Nataliya Stefanova and Igor Yatskar of Tarpon Springs. She is a 2001 graduate of Tarpon Springs High School and plans to major in computer science at the University of South Florida.

Catsikopoulos is the daughter of Despina and Basile Catsikopoulos of Palm Harbor. She is a 2001 graduate of Palm Harbor University High School. She plans to major in political science and public relations at the University of Florida.

Christy Nolan, the daughter of Pati Nolan, has been inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. The society recognizes first and second year undergraduates who excel academically. Nolan, a sophomore at the University of Florida, is majoring in Russian and chemistry. She is a 2000 graduate of Palm Harbor University High School and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
