ST. PETERSBURG -- A 6-year-old boy who choked after becoming entangled in a rope, was in stable condition Monday at All Children's Hospital, authorities said.

Phumyna Vongsanga had to be revived Sunday after the rope with which he and his brother, Mettha, 8, were playing got wrapped up in a ceiling fan at the boys' home on 12th Avenue N. When the older boy turned on the fan, the rope tightened around the younger boy's neck, authorities said. The boys' father found Phumyna unconscious and began administering CPR. The father was able to revive the child before rescue workers arrived, according to St. Petersburg police.
