St. Petersburg girl wins award at space camp
Rachel Ware, 11, daughter of Kelly and Rick Ware of St. Petersburg, received the Right Stuff award while participating in U.S. Space Camp Florida at the Astronaut Hall of Fame in Titusville.
Rachel and her teammates bounced in a microgravity training chair, took a simulated trip to Mars and built customized space stations during the five-day program. They also toured Kennedy Space Center and viewed space artifacts at the adjacent Astronaut Hall of Fame.
A sixth-grader at Shorecrest Preparatory School, Rachel earned the award for supporting her teammates and for demonstrating a strong desire to learn more about the space program.
