Army Maj. Sandra Nelson McNaughton, Army Nurse Corps, was promoted to her current rank while serving as a family nurse practitioner at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
The daughter of retired Army Col. Landy Nelson and Valerie Nelson of St. Petersburg, McNaughton attended Shorecrest Preparatory School. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia School of Nursing and the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, Md., where she received a master's degree in nursing. She also is a graduate of the U.S. Army Airborne School, Fort Benning, Ga.
She lives with her husband, Jim, and their two sons at Fort Leavenworth.
