Funny by any name

Bob Nelson's name may not be as well known as those of his characters, especially boxer "Jiffy Jeff," know-it-all Eppy Epperman and the frenetic football guy. The comic, who started in New York comedy clubs almost 25 years ago, has been in several HBO comedy specials, including Nelson Schmelson. He has toured with Rodney Dangerfield and appeared on all the late-night talk shows.

Nelson comes to Tampa this weekend for five shows at Side Splitters Comedy Club, Cascades Plaza, 12938 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. Shows are at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $16 and $18. For more information or reservations, call (813) 960-1197.
