Current movies recommended by the Times
Hedwig and the Angry Inch -- John Cameron Mitchell's bravura performance as a glam-rock drag queen is exceeded only by his dreamy work as a first-time director. Tampa Theatre only.
The Deep End -- Tilda Swinton gives an award-worthy performance as a mother resorting to any means to spare her son from a murder charge. Beach Theater only.
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back -- Kevin Smith strikes again with a profane, hilarious Hollywood satire. Not for all tastes because it's so tasteless.
Bully -- Dark, depressing tale of teen losers who decide to murder a jerk. Not for the squeamish, but based on a true story in Broward County. Channelside Cinemas only.
Down from the Mountain -- Bluegrass greats in concert playing the music from O Brother, Where Art Thou? A top-tapping, heart-lifting experience; only at Channelside Cinemas.
