TAMPA -- An informer led police to the man they say robbed the Southern Exchange Bank at 405 N West Shore Blvd. on Tuesday afternoon.

Shortly after the 3 p.m. robbery, Tampa police Officer Gary Yost heard that the suspect was staying at the Jayhawk Motel on Nebraska Avenue. Police watched the motel and located the suspect in a room, where he was arrested. Based on evidence collected in the motel room, police charged 36-year-old Tony Leonard Kelly with armed robbery Tuesday night.

Kelly, with a last known address of 9802 Lewis Road in Thonotosassa, has been arrested 15 times in the past 10 years. He has spent time in prison for numerous counts of forgery, fraud, burglary and grand theft.
