Remembering the work of a teacher and artist

Robert O. Hodgell was a beloved teacher and artist on both sides of the Sunshine Skyway. This weekend the artist, who died in March, is remembered in two shows: "In Memory of Bob Hodgell 1923-2000," Art League of Manatee County, reception 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, and "A Hodgell Legacy," Elliott Gallery, Eckerd College, reception 3-5 p.m. Sunday. The artist worked in slab sculpture, linocuts and painting (including Myakka River, above).
