Cheap Thrills

By CHRIS SHERMAN

© St. Petersburg Times, published September 7, 2000

When you want good food at bargain prices, you don't worry about fancy service or atmosphere. Chris Sherman designates Nibbler favorites where you can eat happily for $10 or less as Cheap Thrills.

Dockside Dave's

Grouper sandwich here will take most of a ten spot, but it's well spent, just for the slice of tomato, which is big, red, ripe and juicy. Main event is fresh black grouper, cut in half-pound fillets that spill over any bun. Anything that drops into hot oil is transformed; spend your fat quotient on the onion rings, fries and shrimp here. 13203 Gulf Blvd., Madeira Beach; (727) 392-9399.
