Of relationships and roots

The Trip to Bountiful is a durable drama about family relationships and Southern roots that Horton Foote first wrote for TV in 1953. His screen adaptation earned an Oscar for its star, Geraldine Page. In the Stageworks production, Marie Hyman plays an aging widow determined to get back to her homeplace in Bountiful, Texas. Scott Isert and Carole Ann Johnson, above, play her son and daughter-in-law. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Performing Arts Building on the Ybor campus of Hillsborough Community College. Tickets are $7-$14. Call (813) 251-8984.
