The county's West Nile virus vaccination clinic for horses is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, rain or shine, at Walsingham Park, 12620 102nd Ave. N, Largo, for Pinellas County residents only.

Owners who live in the vicinity and plan to ride their horses to the park will be given the vaccinations from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday only. Owners who plan to bring their horses by trailer to the park will be given the vaccinations from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Dr. Kenny Mitchell, director of Pinellas County Animal Services, said mules also are eligible for the shots and may be brought to the park.

Owners should enter the park from 102nd Avenue and follow the signs to the vaccination station. West Nile virus vaccinations are $10 each. Booster shots will be given Oct. 6 at the park.

Rabies vaccinations for horses and mules also will be available at $5 each at the park this weekend. Volunteers from the SPCA, the Pinellas County Veterinary Medical Society and the Walsingham Horseman's Association will be on hand to help with the clinic. Animal Services can be reached at 582-2600.
