Almonte's future looking very green

© St. Petersburg Times,
published September 9, 2001

Great column by Gary Shelton (Almonte's age joins line of lies, Sept. 5), but mark my words, odds are that Danny Almonte will be pitching for someone -- the Yankees, yeah, that's the ticket -- in say eight (oops, six) years, for a bazillion dollars.
-- David Lubin, Tampa

No fans like Florida fans

The article Snells stay together, start together at UF, Sept. 6, was interesting. I moved to Florida several years ago from Big Ten country. I had many acquaintances and friends who were ardent supporters of teams in that conference. When I moved to Florida I discovered a new definition of football fan, as in fanatic. One sentence in that article spoke volumes. They (brothers Ray and Shannon) are playing at Florida because one brother's test scores were not good enough for him to gain admission to Michigan. Well, well.
-- F. Darrell Thomas, Trinity
