Man accused of stalking girl
By MICHAEL SANDLER
© St. Petersburg Times, A Polk County man was arrested at his business Saturday night on charges that he twice tried to lure a 12-year-old Tampa girl into his car near Robles Park last week. Kuhrt Johann Glessner, 43, of Mulberry was taken into custody by the Mulberry Police Department at the Turning Point Academy of Tae Kwon Do, which he owns. The authorities had a warrant issued by Tampa police and subsequently charged Glessner with aggravated stalking. He was being held at the Polk County Jail on Sunday on $250,000 bail and was expected to be transported to the Hillsborough County Jail. "He doesn't know her," said Katie Hughes, a spokeswoman for Tampa police. "He was a complete stranger. We do not know what he was doing in Tampa." The incidents occurred near Lake Street and N Central Avenue, where, police say, Glessner was seen frequenting bus stops. Police said the girl was sitting on the front porch of her home Wednesday morning when he drove past several times. He waved, the girl told police, and a few minutes later as she walked to school, he pulled alongside, opened his door and told her to get in. When she turned to go home, he blocked her path with the car, police said. She ran away, and he did not touch her. On Thursday, police said, the girl was getting ready for school when the man pulled up to her home and began to get out of the car. A relative confronted him, and he left. Glessner previously has been arrested on misdemeanor battery charges, which he did not contest. He served one year of probation. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
