Spin Jam

SYSTEM: PlayStation

PRICE: $9.99

MAKER: Take 2 Interactive

Sometimes the simplest concept is the most fun, as in the case of Spin Jam. Players rotate a spindle with colored petals on it. Colored balls latch onto the spindle, and connecting three of the same hue causes a rupture that launches other balls toward the petals. The idea is to get balls of one color onto petals of the same color. It's a blast.

Tenchu 2

SYSTEM: PlayStation

PRICE: $39.99

MAKER: Activision

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins sneaked up on players last year, and the new version is even better. Take control of a ninja equipped with grappling hook, throwing stars and poisonous rice balls and attack unsuspecting foes. It's better if they never see you. Rated mature.

Grade: A

GameDay 2001

SYSTEM: PlayStation

PRICE: $39.99

MAKER: 989 Sports

It's hard to justify buying this game with NFL2K1 for the Dreamcast out there as well, not to mention Madden 2001 for PlayStation 2 looming. But that doesn't make this run-and-gun football game any less fun. It's just hard to look at anymore.

Grade: B+

Gundam Side Story 0079

SYSTEM: Dreamcast

PRICE: $44.99

MAKER: Bandai

As far as first-person robot battles are concerned, Gundam provides the excitement, letting players track the enemy via radar and control two iron friends. Missions, however, are too straightforward.

Pro Pinball: Big Race USA

SYSTEM: PlayStation

PRICE: $9.99

MAKER: Take 2 Interactive

Players who have lost hundreds of quarters to pinball machines, as well as newcomers, will enjoy Big Race, one of four pinball games Take 2 is releasing for $9.99. It offers the same addictive quality as real pinball but at one flat price.

Grade: B

Sno Cross: Championship Racing

SYSTEM: PlayStation

PRICE: $12.99

MAKER: Crave

Crave jumps on the discount-price bandwagon with Sno Cross, a snowmobile racing game with radiant graphics and fast action. With its track editor option, Sno Cross is definitely above average, and at the price it's a "why-not?" buy for players in search of a new racer.
