Jeff James, a 6-foot-6 senior forward at Wharton, has orally committed to Butler, picking the Indiana school over Boston University, East Tennessee State and Marshall.
James, a Times second-team all-Hillsborough County selection last season, averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds and 2.5 blocked shots a game as a junior.
"Jeff has improved every year, but he really improved this past summer," Wharton coach Tommy Tonelli said. "He really improved every part of his game, and he's worked hard in the classroom as well.
"He deserves everything he's worked for."
James has met the grade point average and SAT requirements for college eligibility.
