FALCONS: Darrick Vaughn's 100-yard kickoff return tied a team record set by Dennis Pearson in 1978 and equaled by Deion Sanders in 1991. It was the second-longest return ever against the Broncos.

49ERS: They had their worst loss (38-22 to the Panthers) in a home opener since 1988. They had won seven straight home openers. ... Receiver J.J. Stokes caught a 17-yard touchdown from Rick Mirer midway through the fourth quarter, and fullback Fred Beasley scored his fourth touchdown of the season on a 2-yard rush with 1:44 left.

SAINTS: According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the team made history with its rally for a 28-27 victory over San Diego. To the best of anyone's recollection, the 10-play, 90-yard drive for the winning touchdown marked the first time in team history a victory has been secured that way. The team also snapped a 14-game road losing streak dating to Sept. 27, 1998.
