ClassnotesCENTENNIAL ELEMENTARY: "Take You Parents to School Day" will be held Monday through Sept. 21 for New Frontier and Primary Pioneers students and Sept. 20 for Explorers students. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of this event to see what happens during a normal school day. COX ELEMENTARY: Kindergarten workshop, 11:30 a.m. today. Parents of kindergarten students are encouraged to attend this workshop to learn how to help their children with reading and math lessons at home. LACOOCHEE ELEMENTARY: Open House will be held Sept. 20. School pictures Sept. 21. Volunteers are needed for tutoring and assisting emerging readers in the America Reads program. MOORE MICKENS EDUCATION CENTER: Open House 6 p.m. Monday. The evening will start with a potluck supper, followed by election of School Advisory Council officers. Visitations in classrooms will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Those who attend the potluck are asked to bring a salad, vegetable or dessert. A main dish will be provided. PASCO ELEMENTARY: Fall pictures Monday. Academy of Continuous Excellence after school program 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. each Tuesday. This enrichment program runs Sept. 18 through Feb. 14, 2002, and is geared to helping students prepare for FCAT assessments. Volunteers are needed to help with student health screenings on Sept. 19. BriefsThe faculty at Quail Hollow Elementary School is hosting aCar Wash Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sept 22. at the 7-11 on the corner of Old Pasco Road and State Road 54 in Wesley Chapel. Proceeds will help defray medical expenses for Lynzie Spence, a 2001 Quail Hollow Elementary graduate who was recently diagnosed with leukemia. The Second Annual Pasco Education Foundation Golf Classic will be held at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at Plantation Palms Golf Club in Land O'Lakes. Proceeds benefit programs of the foundation, including classroom grants, scholarships and student academic contests. Cost to play is $100 per person and includes golf cart, range balls and various contests. Corporate sponsorships ($400) and Hole Sponsorships ($100) still are available. Taped auditions are being accepted through Sept. 29 for the Tampa Bay Symphony 15th Annual Young Artist Competition.
