Marine Cpl. W. Michael Jayne, son of Karen L. and William T. Jayne of St. Petersburg, was promoted to his present rank while serving with 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Jayne is a 1998 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.

The Navy Armed Guard Association is seeking World War II Navy Armed Guard veterans to join its organization. There are no dues or fees. An annual reunion is held and a quarterly newsletter is published.
