© St. Petersburg Times, Robber grabs shopper's keys and takes off in her truckZEPHYRHILLS -- Pasco County sheriff's deputies were searching Wednesday for the man who took a local woman's keys and stole her truck outside a grocery store Tuesday afternoon. Tobi McLeod-Stadolnik, 33, of Calvin Avenue in Zephyrhills, told deputies she was leaving the Save A Ton food store at 4334 Gall Blvd., when a man came up behind her and grabbed her keys from her hand. He then jumped into her white 1994 Isuzu pickup truck and fled south on U.S. 301. Inside the truck were her credit cards, cash and a Nokia cell phone. McLeod-Stadolnik described the robber as a black man wearing a white T-shirt and blue jean shorts. She said he was about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 140 pounds. No arrests had been made in the case Wednesday. Mail carrier arrested on numerous drug chargesDADE CITY -- Police arrested a 45-year-old postal worker on drug charges Tuesday. Sandra Gayle Valdez, whose address was not listed, was an employee at the Dade City post office. Police Capt. David Duff said officers received a call from the postmaster who said he had experienced problems with Valdez and followed her on her delivery route Tuesday. He said he noticed her parked in the area of the Pioneer Museum off U.S. 301, attempting to inject a drug into her arm. Police arrived at the post office around 2:20 p.m. to arrest her. They searched Valdez and her truck and found cocaine, methamphetamines, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Duff said. They also confiscated prescription pills. Valdez faces charges of possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and trafficking in methamphetamines. She was taken to the Land O'Lakes jail, where she remained Wednesday in lieu of $14,500 bail. Corrections officer says he was stabbedSHADY HILLS -- An off-duty Pasco County sheriff's corrections officer was pushed to the ground and stabbed Tuesday night. Authorities still are searching for a suspect. Kenneth Simonson, a 35-year-old corrections officer, was watching television in his living room when he heard his dogs barking. His address was not released because he is a law enforcement officer. When Simonson walked outside to investigate, he saw a black man, about 5 feet 10, walking toward him. The man lunged at him and pushed him to the ground and then fled, Simonson said. The man was wearing blue jeans, a red T-shirt, a black hat and white latex gloves. He had a stocking pulled over his head. When Simonson stood up, he noticed a small puncture wound and small amount of blood on his chest. He was evaluated at Spring Hill Regional Medical Center. Deputies used a trained dog and a helicopter to search for the suspect but did not find him. Teen arrested at school after car is searchedNEW PORT RICHEY -- A 16-year-old Ridgewood High School student was arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon. Pasco County sheriff's deputies arrested the New Port Richey boy at 10 a.m. at the school. Authorities found a large knife underneath the driver's seat, a pocketknife in the vehicle's center and two marijuana pipes in the trunk. Tips from students led deputies to search the boy's vehicle. The Times is not releasing the boy's name because of his age. The boy was arrested and processed at the juvenile detention facility. Father saves son, 2, after fall into poolVETERANS VILLAGE -- A 2-year-old boy who fell into a pool Wednesday night is doing fine after being rescued by his father, said Pasco County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Cynthia O'Neal. The father went to answer the phone at 7527 Atherton Ave. around 5:25 p.m. and when he turned around, the child was gone, O'Neal said. When he found the boy moments later in the pool, he was underwater and struggling to swim, she said. O'Neal said that when paramedics arrived, the boy was breathing fine. They took him to HCA Community Hospital as a precaution.
