Pepe's Market

For real tacos, for-real tacos that taste of the grill and Old Mexico, go to Pepe's Market and head for the taqueria in back by the butcher shop. Fillings are endless -- barbecued beef, pork carnitas, chicharonnes, tongue, chicken and even ham (with pineapple and grilled onion), at little more than a buck a piece. Add cool cilantro salsa and a squeeze of lime to meat fresh off the grill, and even the tortillas taste fresher. Try sopes, made with thick cornmeal pancakes, frijoles and sour cream. You can get 'em to go, but it's smarter to grab a seat and a jarrito; you're going to want more. 1406 Cleveland St., Clearwater; (727) 562-0515
