Names of hijackers

MOHAMED ATTA

Age: 33

Role: Aboard American Airlines Flight 11 that crashed first into the World Trade Center at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday. Atta's credit card had been used to purchase several tickets, on both the American flight and another Boston-to-Los Angeles flight, United Airlines 175, which left shortly after it.

Pilot license: Believed to be a pilot.

Florida connection: Took flight training at Huffman Aviation in Venice in summer of 2000. Moved to Coral Springs in Broward County late last year or early this year. Obtained Florida driver's license in May 2001. Took two three-hour courses at SimCenterInc. in Opa-locka, where he trained on a Boeing 727 full-motion flight simulator.

International background: Studied for eight years at the Technical University in Hamburg and tied to an Islamic fundamentalist group that planned attacks on American targets, German investigators say. He and suspected hijacker Marwan Al Shehhi, believed to be his cousin, came to the United States in May. He had an Egyptian driver's license and was in the United States on a tourist visa.

Place of birth: United Arab Emirates.

WALEED AL SHEHRI

Age: 25

Role: Waleed and Wail Al Shehri sat in seats 2A and 2B of American Airlines Flight 11.

Pilot license: Yes.

Florida connection: Obtained Florida driver's license in October 1994. Lived in Daytona Beach through 1998 and later moved to Vienna, Va. Al Shehri graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in aeronautical science, the university's commercial pilot training degree, and is listed as having a commercial pilot's license.

Place of birth: Pilot's license lists home as Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

WAIL AL SHEHRI

Age: 28

Role: Waleed and Wail Al Shehri sat in seats 2A and 2B of American Airlines Flight 11.

Florida connection: Lived in $1,300 a month motel in Boynton Beach in Palm Beach County in June and July.

Pilot: Believed to be a pilot.

ABDULRAHMAN AL OMARI

Age: 38

Role: Aboard American Airlines Flight 11.

Pilot: Yes.

Florida connection: Issued a Florida driver's license on May 27, 1994. Lived in Vero Beach neighborhood near two other men, Adnan Bukhari and Amer M. Kamfar, who are linked to investigation. All three took flying instruction together at Flight Safety International. Once listed a home address at the Flight Operations center at New York's Kennedy Airport and told his Florida landlord he was a Saudi Arabian Airlines pilot.

International connection: Pilot's license lists address as the airline's post office box in Saudi Arabia.

SATAM AL SUQAMI

Age: 25

Role: Aboard American Airlines Flight 11.

Florida connection: Lived in Boynton Beach as recently as July, at the same motel address listed for Wail Al Shehri. Issued a Florida identification card on July 3, 2001.

International background: Listed address in United Arab Emirates.

United Airlines Flight 175, a Boeing 767-200

MARWAN AL SHEHHI

Age: 23

Role: Aboard the second plane into the World Trade Center. He is believed to be Atta's cousin. Returned Atta's rental car Sunday at a rental car company in Pompano Beach.

Pilot's license: Yes.

Florida connection: Obtained a Florida driver's license in February 1997. Took flight training with Atta and lived with Atta in Venice last year. Moved to Coral Springs this year.

International background: Studied electrical engineering for one year at the Technical University in Hamburg and connected to Islamic extremists. He and Atta lived together in Venice, Fla., and in Hamburg. He was in the United States on a business visa.

FAYEZ AHMED

Role: Aboard the flight.

Florida connection: May have lived in Delray Beach.

MOHALD AL SHEHRI

Age: 28

Role: Aboard the flight.

Florida connection: Lived in Vero Beach.

AHMED ALI AL GHAMDI

Age: 21

Role: Aboard the flight.

Florida connection: Has a Florida identification card. Lived in Palm Bay in 1998, records say. Also lived in Vienna, Va., and may have lived in Delray Beach.

HAMZAH SALEH AL GHAMDI

Age: 20

Role: Aboard the flight.

Florida connection: Issued a Florida driver's license on June 26, 2001. Lived at same Delray Beach condominium as Al Nami and Al Hazmi.

International connection: Saudi Arabian driver's license.

United Airlines Flight 93, a Boeing 757-200

AHMED AL HAZNAWI

Age: 20

Role: Aboard the flight, which crashed in Pennsylvania.

Florida connection: Lived as recently as August at a home in Lauderdale by the Sea with Ziad Jarrah. Issued a Florida driver's license on July 10, 2001.

International connection: Previously held Saudi Arabian driver's license.

ZIAD JARRAH

Age: 26

Role: Aboard the flight.

Pilot: Yes.

Florida connection: Lived this summer at a home two blocks from the ocean in Lauderdale by the Sea with Al Haznawi. Earlier lived in Venice, a city where several other suspects lived.

International background: Pilot's license lists an address in Hamburg, where two of the other suspected hijackers once lived.

AHMED A A AL NAMI

Age: 23

Role: Aboard the flight.

Florida connection: Issued a Florida identification card on June 29, 2001. Listed at same Delray Beach condominium as Nawaf Al Hazmi and Saeed Al Ghamdi.

SAEED AL GHAMDI

Age: 21

Role: Aboard the flight.

Florida connection: Listed at same Delray Beach condominium as Al Nami and Al Hazmi. Issued Florida identification card on July 10, 2001.

American Airlines Flight 77, a Boeing 757-200

NAWAQ AL HAZMI

Age: 25

Role: Aboard the flight that crashed into the Pentagon.

Florida connection: A man named Nawaf Al Hazmi obtained a Florida driver's license in June. Name also spelled Al Hamzi. Listed a Delray Beach address.

HANI HANJOOR

Age: 29

Role: Aboard the plane, which crashed into the Pentagon at 9:39 a.m.

Pilot license: Yes

National background: Lived in Phoenix and San Diego.

International background: Federal Aviation Administration records show a Hani Hanjoor received a commercial pilot's license in 1999 and listed a Saudi Arabia address.

KHALID AL-MIDHAR

Role: Aboard the plane.

Information: Al-Midhar may have lived in San Diego and New York. He had a B-1 visa that covered business-related travel and was good for up to a year, and an expired B-2 visa, a travel visa, good for up to a year.

SALEM AL HAZMI

Role: Aboard the plane.

Information: Al Hazmi may have lived in Fort Lee and Wayne, N.J.

MAJED MOQUED

Role: Aboard the plane.

Information: None released by FBI.
