INVERNESS -- During a closed session last week, the School Board expelled the first two students of the new school year.
A ninth-grade girl at Citrus High School was expelled for the first nine weeks of the school year for a violation of the zero tolerance policy for controlled substances and alcohol. An eighth-grade boy from the Renaissance Center was expelled for the rest of this school year and all next school year for battery, harassment and possession of tobacco.
