Public to hear about floodplain plan

TREASURE ISLAND -- The city's Hazard Mitigation Committee is scheduled to conduct a public hearing about the Floodplain Management Plan at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 120 108th Ave.
The committee will conduct its annual evaluation of the plan and make recommendations about future goals and actions regarding flood management. The plan is available for review weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the city's Community Improvement Department at City Hall.
Toastmasters to offer public speaking workshop
Speak Easy Toastmasters Club 4698 will hold a six-week public speaking workshop beginning at 6:15 p.m. Monday at Royal King Buffet Restaurant, 7610 49th St. N, Pinellas Park. Youth symphony offers violin and viola classes
Pinellas County students who are interested in learning to play the violin or viola are invited to take classes through the Pinellas Youth Symphony this fall. Registration for St. Petersburg students will be held from 6-7 p.m. Sept. 26, at Perkins Elementary School, 2205 18th Ave. S, St. Petersburg. Tuition for the hourlong lessons is $125 per seven-month session. A limited number of tuition scholarships are available. For more information, call 438-3149.
