Record is bit further away for Henderson

NEW YORK -- Rickey Henderson isn't quite as close to Babe Ruth's walk record as some people think.

While numerous sources list Ruth's career walk total at 2,056, the commissioner's office added six walks for Ruth last season after research by the Elias Sports Bureau and baseball's historian, Jerome Holtzman.

Henderson didn't get a walk in Seattle's Saturday night game, leaving him six shy Ruth's record.

BLUE JAYS: Toronto activated right-hander Frank Castillo from the 15-day disabled list. Castillo was placed on the DL on Aug. 14 with a sprained right forearm and sprained medial ligament in his right elbow. Castillo threw in the bullpen and reported no pain.

BREWERS: Milwaukee purchased the contract of pitcher Mike Buddie from Triple-A Indianapolis and designated pitcher Paul Stewart for assignment.

DODGERS: The Double-A San Antonio Missions of the Texas League recently ended a 24-year relationship with the Dodgers after the Dodgers ended a long relationship with the San Bernardino Stampede of the High-A California League. The Elmore Sports Group owns both the Stampede and Missions, and Missions president Burl Yarbrough said working with the new administration wasn't like working with that of former owner Peter O'Malley. "There's been a lot of changes in L.A.," Yarbrough said. "Most of the people we dealt with are no longer there, and we don't have the same bond with the new people. Our club hasn't done well on the field the last couple years, our contract was up, and we felt this was the right time to make a change."

REDS: Cincinnati extended its club-record streak of consecutive games to start a season without being shut out to 150, the fourth-longest in history.

TIGERS: Reliever Doug Brocail will miss the rest of the season with inflammation in his pitching elbow. Brocail, a right-hander, appeared in only one game over the past month and was on the disabled list from Aug. 14-Sept. 1. He is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday.
