UF sideliners

Practice, practice

Florida dropped five passes on the first five possessions. Frustrated, receivers coach Dwayne Dixon ordered the receiving corps to do pass-catching drills on the sideline during a Tennessee possession.

Crash of the Titan

Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George, enjoying an open date in the NFL schedule, attended. The former Heisman Trophy winner at Ohio State had no allegiances. "I just wanted to see a good game. And I did."

Silly question

UF coach Steve Spurrier was appalled when a Gator approached him during warmups and asked why Tennessee thought it had a chance to win. "One of our players, can you believe that?" Spurrier said.

Counting by threes

Kickers Alex Walls and Jeff Chandler were extremely busy, combining for seven field goals. Walls was 5 of 5 for Tennessee; Chandler 2 of 2 for Florida.

Quotable

"Hopefully we'll learn we're not as good as we think we are and we won't be so mouthy. We're going to try not to talk so much and try to play better." -- Spurrier.
