Dali film series releases lineup

Dali & Beyond, a recurring film series at Salvador Dali Museum, recently released its cinema lineup for the fall season. Screenings are at 6 p.m. every other Thursday night at the museum, 1000 Third Street N in St. Petersburg. Admission is discounted by 50 percent after 5 p.m. on Thursdays. This week's feature is Head, written by Jack Nicholson and starring the Monkees. Upcoming shows include an adult version of The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb (Oct. 5) and Ken Russell's Lair of the White Worm (Oct. 19). Call (727) 823-3767 for more information about the series.

Musical chairs

Last week's announcement that Hans Graf was named music director of the Houston Symphony Orchestra didn't come as a surprise to Leonard Stone, executive director of the Florida Orchestra. Stone had a major role in bringing Graf, an Austrian, to North America as music director of the Calgary Philharmonic in 1995, when Stone was executive director there. Graf succeeds Christoph Eschenbach in Houston. The filling of that vacancy has implications for Florida music director Jahja Ling, who had been considered as a candidate. Ling also has been mentioned as a possibility for pending openings on podiums of the Indianapolis Symphony and Minnesota Orchestra. He steps down from the Florida post after the 2001-02 season.

Jacques Callot etchings on exhibit

St. Petersburg print collector David Patten's donation of etchings by Jacques Callot are on view in "Innovations in Printmaking: The Work of Jacques Callot" at the Norton Museum of Art, West Palm Beach, opening Saturday and running through Dec. 10.

Fame game

Tampa alternative rock band Ashes of Grisum has been selected to play at the CMJ Music Marathon, MusicFest and FilmFest in New York next month. The four-day conference, one of the largest in the music industry for 20 years, draws more than 9,000 artists, label executives and music industry types eager to discover the next big act.

Susan Dollmaker Andrews and Carolyn Fellman of Gulfport, who collaborate as the Oiseaux Sisters, are exhibiting a show of their large installations at Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C.
