Russia's Svetlana Khorkina earned redemption Sunday in the individual apparatus finals. The highlights:
SVETLANA KHORKINA: With a new haircut, she came back from disappointment in the all-around final with a gold medal in the uneven bars. The all-around favorite Thursday was one of many gymnasts whose routines were marred by a faulty setting on the vault horse. ALEXEI NEMOV: The Russian has a medal of every color. He won the silver in the floor exercise to go with his all-around gold, team bronze and pommel horse bronze.
LATVIAN LUSTER: Igors Vihrovs gave Latvia its first gymnastics medal since it regained its independence after the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991 by winning the floor exercise. ALSO NOTABLE: Marius Urzica of Romania won the pommel horse and Silveszter Csollany of Hungary the still rings. ... Yelena Zamolodtchikova, a last-minute replacement for Khorkina in the vault, won the gold. ... American Morgan Hamm finished seventh on the floor. He and his twin brother, U.S. team member Paul, turned 18 Sunday.
