Gay victims of Holocaust may be due reparationsBy Times staff writer
© St. Petersburg Times, Just as other organizations are doing for Jews, an international organization is now coordinating reparations to homosexual victims of the Holocaust, as well as other groups. People who were persecuted because of they were homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Roma or mentally or physically handicapped may qualify for compensation if they were forced into Nazi slave labor camps, forced to work as slaves in German or Swiss companies, denied entry into Switzerland, expelled from Switzerland or otherwise mistreated in Switzerland. The reparations fund, which totals $1.5-billion, is designed to settle litigation over the Holocaust in U.S. District Court in New York. The deadline for filing a claim is Dec. 31.
