OLDSMAR -- A 32-year-old man was charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse after his 3-month-old baby was taken to the hospital with a fractured skull and nine fractured ribs.
Timothy Brett Henrion, of 702 Lafayette Blvd., was arrested Tuesday, about a month after hospital staff notified investigators of the infant's injuries.
The child, who was taken by ambulance Aug. 30 to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, is living with relatives, said Pinellas County sheriff's Detective Matthew Miller.
"The child is doing much better now," Miller said Wednesday.
Investigators released few details about the baby to avoid identifying a victim of child abuse, Miller said. He would not say how the infant was injured because he said the investigation was ongoing. Miller said the baby was injured on three separate occasions about a month ago.
At the time of the injuries, Henrion had two other children from another relationship living with him in Oldsmar. The 7-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy are now living with family members in Washington.
The 3-month-old's mother was living with Henrion at the time the child was injured. The mother, whose name was not released, has not been charged, Miller said.
The state Department of Children and Families is aware of the charges, but it is unclear what role, if any, the agency will have in this case, said Shawnna Lee, the agency's spokeswoman in Tampa. Henrion does not have a record with the agency, she said.
Henrion was born in Florida and works at Jungle Video, according to arrest records. He has lived in Clearwater, Dunedin, Largo, Fort Myers and Washington, court records show.
He was being held late Wednesday in lieu of $300,000 bail at the Pinellas County Jail.
