Golf

A tournament benefitting the River Ridge football team will be held Sept. 29 at 8 a.m. at Seven Springs Country Club. The cost for the four-man scramble is $45 per person. For more information, contact Dick Janus at 845-4606.

Because of time and scheduling constraints, Patty Jordan, an LPGA golf professional who makes her home in New Port Richey, no longer will be as active in promoting her "Love The Children" golf tournament, but the event will go on.

Father Felix Ullrich of the Knights of Columbus Council 5869 in Port Richey has annoucned his group has volunteered to take over the event -- scheduled for Oct. 29 -- and retain Jordan as an advisor.

The tournament, in its 10th year, helps raise funds for the West Pasco Pregnancy Center. It will be held at the Seven Springs, and will be a four-person scramble with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $65 a player or $240 per team. Deadline for entries is Oct. 17.

The Dunes Golfers Club will host a tournament at 1 p.m. on Oct. 7, to benefit the families of the lost New York City firefighters and police. The tournament, co-sponsored by a local chapter of retired New York firefighters and police officers, is a four-person scramble with an entry fee of $200 a foursome or $50 an individual.
