The accident occurred at about 2:25 p.m. at the Dolphin Towers Condominium in downtown Sarasota, causing a brief shutdown of several roads. Terry Young, 27, of Tampa was taken by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital. He suffered second- and third-degree burns on his face, arms and back. The temperature of asphalt in such a kettle can reach 450 to 500 degrees. Authorities were investigating what caused the device to spew the asphalt. Hillsborough budget approved unanimouslyTAMPA -- The County Commission unanimously approved a $2.3-billion budget Wednesday night. The budget will pay for about 41 more positions in the Sheriff's Office, including 22 new patrol deputies, and provides $5-million for transportation and $5-million for new libraries. Commissioner Chris Hart wanted to spend another $5-million on transportation for a total of $10-million to make transportation issues the county's No. 1 priority. But commissioners did not want to undo the priorities already set. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
