Nostalgia of note

Tampa photographer Rebecca Sexton Larson, exhibiting at Clayton Galleries, is a master of the then-and-now: elusive, romantic nostalgia expressed in a thoroughly contemporary vehicle. She achieves her effects by collecting memorabilia ranging from dolls to domesticity, sometimes adding elements of nature, and photographing the arrangement with a homemade pinhole camera. Often she will add collage, as in Messenger of Dreams, mixed media/photo, 331/2 by 51 inches, shown here. Larson, a winner of many prizes in area shows, was also a 1997-98 Florida Individual Artist Fellow. Clayton Galleries is at 4105 S MacDill Ave., Tampa; (813) 831-3753. Hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, through Oct. 7. Free.
