* * *

CCC (4-0) at Jefferson (4-0)

LAST MEETING: None

THE SKINNY: This should be the Dragons' final test before a season-ending bout with Hillsborough. The Marauders can run, pass and move the ball effectively but they'll be hurting when this one is over.

Pastor: Jefferson Purks: Jefferson Readling: Jefferson

East Bay (4-0) at Riverview (4-0)

LAST MEETING: Riverview 20, East Bay 14 (2000)

THE SKINNY: Avious Steadman is set to make his return after a one-week suspension imposed by coach Alex Albert. Will Steadman return well-rested or will he be arrested by a tough Indians defense? Pastor: Riverview Purks: East Bay Readling: East Bay

Gaither (3-1) at Hillsborough (3-1)

LAST MEETING: Hillsborough 21, Gaither 7 (2000)

THE SKINNY: This is Cringe Week for Gaither. You know, the week when you look at the schedule and then shudder when you realize you're playing Hillsborough. The last time Gaither defeated the Terriers was in 1994, but since then Hillsborough has outscored the Cowboys 237-31. Ouch!

Pastor: Hillsborough Purks: Hillsborough Readling: Hillsborough

Tampa Catholic (2-2) at St. Pete Catholic (2-1)

LAST MEETING: St. Pete Cath. 43, TC 16

THE SKINNY: The Crusaders are coming off one of the worst losses in school history -- 69-0 thanks to Cardinal Mooney. But that was last week. This is, well, you know. St. Pete Catholic is going to be tough. The Barons lost to Jesuit before rebounding to beat Frostproof last week. This could be another down night for the TC faithful.

Pastor: SPC Purks: SPC Readling: SPC

Berkeley Prep (0-3) at Indian Rocks Christian (0-4)

LAST MEETING: Berkeley 60, Indian Rocks Chr. 7 (2000)

THE SKINNY: Know this: Berkeley Prep will win this game. IRC has given up 202 points this season. That's more than 50 points per Friday night.

Pastor: Berkeley Purks: Berkeley Readling: Berkeley

Sarasota (0-3) at Bloomingdale (0-4)

LAST MEETING: None

THE SKINNY: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

Pastor: Sarasota Purks: Sarasota Readling: Bloomingdale

Alonso (0-4) at Chamberlain (2-2)

LAST MEETING: None

THE SKINNY: The Chiefs' streak will grow to three in a row. Chamberlain is off and running and run it will tonight. At will. The Ravens have given up 837 yards on the ground this season and you can bet that number will be four digits after tonight.

Pastor: Chamberlain Purks: Chamberlain Readling: Chamberlain

Armwood (1-3) at Brandon (1-3)

LAST MEETING: Armwood 34, Brandon 0 (2000)

THE SKINNY: My, how the tables can turn. Brandon has the best quarterback, the best wide receivers and the better defense. Armwood will put up a fight, but this could be all Eagles.

Pastor: Armwood Purks: Brandon Readling: Brandon

Blake (1-3) at Palmetto (1-2)

LAST MEETING: Blake 30, Palmetto 6 (1969 state playoffs)

THE SKINNY: This is important because it's a district game. That's all you need to know. That's all we have to say.

Pastor: Palmetto Purks: Palmetto Readling: Palmetto

Durant (3-1) at Plant City (0-4)

LAST MEETING: Plant City 28, Durant 9 (2000)

THE SKINNY: Plant City has scored 28 points each of the past two years in wins against Durant. This season, they've scored 29 points all year.

Pastor: Durant Purks: Durant Readling: Durant

King (3-1) at Plant (1-3)

LAST MEETING: King 28, Plant 12 (2000)

THE SKINNY: It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's King coming back to earth after its biggest win in a long time. It's not every day a county team beats Hillsborough. But they'd better gear up because Plant has the potential to ruin what has been a well-deserved week of celebration.

Pastor: Plant Purks: King Readling: King

Robinson (2-2) at Jesuit (4-0)

LAST MEETING: Jesuit 3, Robinson 0 (2000)

THE SKINNY: This is always a close game. Last year it was three points, the year before it was four and the year before that it was Jesuit by seven. This year should be no different. One prediction: Kwane Doster will not run for 353 yards.

Pastor: Jesuit Purks: Jesuit Readling: Jesuit

Tampa Bay Tech (3-1) at Sickles (1-3)

LAST MEETING: Tech 26, Sickles 7 (2000)

THE SKINNY: Paper beats rock. Rock beats scissors. Titans beat Gryphons. 1-2-3, let's play!

Pastor: TBT Purks: TBT Readling: TBT

Riverhills Chr. (0-3) at Winter Haven All Saints' (0-4)

LAST MEETING: All Saints' 28, Riverhills 8 (2000)

THE SKINNY: If there are satellites that can circle the earth and read the license plate on a 1950 Chrysler on a street in Havana, Cuba, then surely Riverhills can win this game. Right?

Pastor: All Saints' Purks: All Saints' Readling: Riverhills

Orlando West Oaks (4-0) at Temple Heights (0-2), 3:45 p.m.

LAST MEETING: None

THE SKINNY: Typically we would go with Temple Heights here, but this year it looks like the Warriors might be for real. Temple Heights still has a host of weapons. This is one pick we'd concede in order to get the Eagles in the win column.

Pastor: West Oaks Purks: West Oaks Readling: West Oaks
